Yes, we have been awash for days in endless Snow King pics and vids coming out of Russia, about which we are of course not complaining at all except for the occasional deep sigh and long, melancholy gaze out the window as we contemplate the life choices that have brought us to this moment in which somehow we do not live in Russia and we apparently can’t have nice things where we live.

But then Johnny tweeted this over the weekend:

In addition, show producer Yana Rudkovskaya posted this on Instagram, as translated by the @PlushenkoNews Twitter account (bless them):

And so we are imbued with new hope to go with all the new photos and videos below! Because now we must review every scrap of coverage from every angle so that we are knowledgeable and well-informed spectators when this incredible ice show arrives in our town, soon! Maybe! Yay! Pleasepleaseplease...

Now that the initial OMG THIS IS AMAZING phase has kind of worn off and we’re able to do more than simply gape at the astonishing awesomeness of it all [have you SEEN the CARRIAGE], today we have an incredible series of exclusive pics plus video clips to take us through the show’s storyline, which is an adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale, The Snow Queen, and in which much of the focus is on the character of Kai, played by Johnny. And at the end of the picspam is every fan’s dream video from the show, thanks to the wonderfully talented Elena Vasileva, plus bonus exclusive pics from the fabulous Joveta Leo

But first: let’s check in with Johnny today, shall we?

This photo series beautifully captures Johnny’s expressions in detail as he portrays Kai. All of these are huge, so please do click on each to see the full-size images. They may take a moment to load, but as always, are more than worth the wait.

The Snow King

Part 1: Shards from the Evil Trolls’
Magic Mirror Transform Kai.

Kai and Gerda (Irina Slutskaya) are dear friends who love one another like brother and sister. They especially love gardening, and work together tending their beautiful flowers. But one day everything changes, when pieces of a shattered enchanted mirror fly into Kai’s eyes and he no longer sees Gerda as his beloved friend.  He becomes angry and cruel, fights with Gerda, then abandons her.

of #thesnowking told by talented ice skaters.
@johnnygweir, you’re so gorgeous!

Part 2: Captured by The Snow King.

Shards from the mirror also flew into the eyes of the King, and he, too, has been transformed: he is now the evil Snow King. He encounters Kai while driving his carriage and kidnaps him, taking Kai away to his icy enchanted palace.

Part 3: In The Snow King’s Palace.

The Snow King wants Kai to stay with him and be one of his soldiers. Kai does not want to do this, and fights to keep his independence, but in the end, he surrenders to The Snow King.

Part 4: Gerda Comes to Save Kai.

Throughout Kai’s enchantment, Gerda never loses hope that she might find him and see him become again the boy whom she loves. She journeys to The Snow King’s castle through a great many difficulties, but finally arrives, carrying with her a beautiful red rose in which blooms Gerda’s love for Kai. Kai does not remember her at first, but the power of love in the rose sets him free.

Part 5: The Spell Is Broken!

Gerda faces The Snow King and his soldiers in a tense battle. But there is nothing stronger than love, and ultimately she defeats the King, the rose held high above her head in triumph.

The rose transforms the icy castle back into the warm and beautiful place it once was, and also releases the King from his enchantment.

It was a fabulous, inspiring performance.
You made the fairy tale come true!
@johnnygweir, you are amazing!

This is such a beautiful tribute via @orihime8152:
“In fact, I make this post only because there is one thing which I want to tell @johnnygweir Johnny Weir, and this is THANK YOU ♥♥♥ Johnny, thank you so much for everything that you’ve done to the world of figure skating, as your style is elegant, brilliant and so full of dignity and beauty that I could cry every time I watched you skating. I wanted to see your live performance with my own eyes since 2010, and in 2011, when you took part in a show named ‘Alice In Wonderland’, I was depressed because I had no chance to see it back then. And also, Johnny, I want to thank you so much for everything that you’ve ever done to Russia, because you’ve been giving our country and us so much love that I hope you to be loved in return forever. I’ve read your articles and interviews and couldn’t but feel amazed by your sense, dignity, courage (I’d rather say ‘fearlessness’) and strong will. Being such a sensitive, intelligent and strong person in the same time is unbelievably rare in this world, but that gives me hope and belief in people on the whole. I know that I could write this in Russian and you still could read it, but I don’t want you to spend to much time on it when you have plenty of other important things to do. When my friends @onecurlyzoe and @liliyagilyazova watched with me ‘The Snow King’ on Sunday they couldn’t stop asking whether you are not actually 15 years old and how on Earth can someone be so cute ♥ There is one thing that I want to wish for you and this is “be happy ever, ever, ever”! :) Love you and hope to see you again some day :) #снежныйкороль #JohnnyWeir #loveyouJohnny”
